The BUSY School NZ Limited (TBSNZ) is a Charter School offering alternative education for students in Years 11-13 who have disengaged from traditional schooling. At TBSNZ, students re-engage in education to complete senior school while gaining a head start into employment through vocational training pathways that form part of their curriculum. The school offers a supportive environment where students complete school subjects and vocational education and training studies meet the requirements of the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) and progress towards employment or further education and training outcomes. 

The BUSY School have expanded with campuses opening in Auckland to provide a supportive and safe learning environment for young people by providing them with support that increases their sense of wellbeing, resilience, belonging, academic achievement, career exploration and employment outcomes.  

Job Description

About the position... 

Join The BUSY School in opening our newest campus in Auckland! The primary purpose of this position is to provide support and expert advice in the ongoing development of TBSNZ’s educational program. A major focus of the role is the development of teaching staff and teaching practice. The position is actively involved in curriculum development, supporting teachers’ planning, modelling teaching methods, and managing the assessment and reporting requirements associated with the NCEA.  As the Curriculum Coordinator you will also carry a 0.5 teaching load to support the Campus.

This role is permanent full time on our Campus based at our Auckland Campus. You will be re-engaging students and teaching English or Maths to the Year 11 or 12. The role is available immediately

Desired Skills and Experience

About you... 

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in working with the NCEA curriculum 
  • Must be able to meet the Safety Check requirements as specified in the Children’s Act 2014, including regular Police vetting. 
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Check with no disclosable outcomes 
  • Ability to work within the curriculum of secondary education 
  • Hold a current registration and certification with the Teaching Council of Aoteoroa New Zealand|Matatū Aotearoa.  
  • Hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree and/or qualification in education appropriate to teach secondary students. 
  • Experience with curriculum development and leadership 
  • Demonstrate a flexible and highly engaging teaching approach with an emphasis on building relationships and challenging students to achieve academic outcomes
