The BUSY School – New Zealand 

The BUSY School NZ Limited (TBSNZ) is a Charter School offering alternative education for students in Years 11-13 who have disengaged from traditional schooling. At TBSNZ, students re-engage in education to complete senior school while gaining a head start into employment through vocational training pathways that form part of their curriculum. The school offers a supportive environment where students complete school subjects and vocational education and training studies meet the requirements of the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) and progress towards employment or further education and training outcomes. 

The BUSY School have expanded with campuses opening in Auckland to provide a supportive and safe learning environment for young people by providing them with support that increases their sense of wellbeing, resilience, belonging, academic achievement, career exploration and employment outcomes.

About the position... 

Join The BUSY School in opening our newest campus in Auckland! The Campus Principal is integral in drawing together the three aspects of a TBS education – Learning, Wellbeing, and Career Pathways. Retaining oversight of the journey of each student, the Campus Principal is supported by a committed staff team, with all work being undertaken in the pursuit of the best interests of the student. Working from a trauma-informed approach, the school supports young people where they are at, currently, and aims to guide them in making accessible goals for themselves while celebrating their success along the way. The Campus Principal will build and bring alive the campus culture, for staff and students, giving influential leadership to all stakeholders, and participating in enacting the school's strategic vision. 

This role is permanent full time on our Campus based at our Auckland Campus. This role is available immediately.

Desired Skills and Experience

About you... 

  • Proven ability in leadership and management of a school team, and strategic planning for enhanced student outcomes  
  • Proven ability to model excellent teaching and learning skills utilising a broad range of learning strategies 
  • Demonstrated experience with student welfare, the support structures and services required to achieve quality learning outcomes in a diverse and inclusive environment 
  • Hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree and/or qualification in education to teach secondary students 
  • Hold a current registration and certification with the Teaching Council of Aoteoroa New Zealand|Matatū Aotearoa 
  • Ability to work within the curriculum of secondary education 
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Check with no disclosable outcomes 
  • Must be able to meet the Safety Check requirements as specified in the Children’s Act 2014, including regular Police vetting.
