The BUSY School is part of The BUSY Group, a not-for-profit organisation presenting over 47 years as a community partner providing employment services, vocational education and training, apprenticeships, mentoring, Inclusive Employment Support, and allied health services.

The BUSY School is an independent Special Assistance School with 10 campuses across Queensland and New Zealand, providing an alternative program for Year 11 and 12 students who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education. Our program has expanded to include The BUSY School Online (TBSO), a platform offered by TBS that provides an alternative, flexible, high-support online education pathway for young people in Years 11 and 12 who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. Students re-engage with education through a blended online model while working toward senior certification and employment pathways.

About the Role

At The BUSY School Online (TBSO), we provide an alternative, flexible, high‑support online learning pathway for young people in Years 11 and 12 who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. Our students reconnect with learning through a blended online model — and your role is central to making that possible.

We’re looking for a patient, youth‑friendly Digital Engagement Support Officer who can guide students through their first steps online, troubleshoot common tech issues, and help them stay connected and confident in their learning.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

Essential:

  • Experience supporting young people (education, youth work, student support, etc.)
  • Strong practical digital capability with Windows devices, Teams and web apps
  • Ability to explain tech in simple, youth‑appropriate language
  • Organised, proactive approach to tracking onboarding and follow‑ups
  • Good judgement around privacy, boundaries and escalation
  • Confidence working with IT service providers and logging accurate tickets
  • Current Blue Card (or ability to obtain)

Desirable:

  • Experience in online learning environments or LMS platforms
  • Understanding of trauma‑informed practice
  • Basic awareness of device management concepts
