Job Description
About the Role
The primary purpose of this position is to provide career advice to current and potential apprentices thereby improving the retention rates for Australian Apprentices. In addition, recommend the right training, employment, upskilling or development pathways for the individual – either pre-apprenticeship, prevocational, VET qualification, apprenticeship, traineeship, soft skill development or support through other service providers.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Provide mentoring sessions with apprentices to support career planning, soft-skill development and retention, either on-site, by phone or online.
Create and update Tailored Support Plans (TSPs) outlining goals, actions and referrals to support each apprentice’s success.
Attend school visits, career expos and community events to promote apprenticeship pathways and connect with potential candidates.
Administer and interpret career and aptitude assessments, using results to recommend suitable training or employment pathways.
Build and maintain strong relationships with employers and industry partners, supporting apprenticeship recruitment and workforce needs.
Manage enquiries, documentation and case notes, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance requirements are met.

Desired Skills and Experience
A bit about you...
Certificate IV in Career Development highly regarded; or prepared to undertake the qualification within one year of employment
Experience in career development or employment services preferred
Proven experience in communicating with a broad range of groups and individuals, and in particular, young people; mature aged people; people with a disability; culturally and linguistically diverse people; people with a poor employment history; people undergoing hardship; Indigenous Australians etc
Must be able to contribute appropriately to a multi-disciplinary team approach;
Ability to obtain a Working With Children Check and National Police Check
